While I think your criticism is valid, I certainly don’t share your visceral disgust. Mainly because I feel the game is more multi-layered than you give it credit for. The problems I see go back to the “white” point of view. It is a story that uses racism as a flavor element, as a motivator, as an excuse even. It is not a story that accords the victims of that racism any great agency. That ? as you point out ? is common enough, though no excuse to not be the studio that breaks with the custom.
I loved it. I thought it was classic Mad Men! And I agree with you on all fronts. I couldn’t update my FB status fast enough when A&M got some MM time. Whoop!

I’d say keep the bowdlerizations, but label them. The copy shown should be weeded on the condition alone, though. I wouldn’t want to check it out and possibly be held responsible for any of the tearing or binding failure that would be sure to happen.
